Who is Helene?
I graduated from the Norwegian Music Conservatory in 1995 as a voice teacher. I teach a variety of musical genres, from classical to jazz, to students of various skill levels. In addition to teaching voice, I impart basic music theory knowledge to beginners and intermediates. My family and I split our time between our homes in Norway and the United States.
Why am I passionate about music?
I grew up in a musical family with a mother who sang a lot and a father who played the piano. I believe that everybody can learn how to sing and enjoy music.
My Shows:
Opera Fairytales
This is a 35-minute program for children. I will present three operas: a modern version of Cinderella by Peter Maxwell Davis, Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck, and The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This is an interactive performance in which the children will learn a dance and perform as a body percussion orchestra. I have performed this show in the Norwegian Opera and Ballet for many years and in libraries in the US.
Having Fun and Other Stories
Having Fun and Other Stories is a 35-minute show for adults interested in learning about Norwegian culture. It is a solo performance—a storytelling show presented through singing, music, and humor.
